Early in the history of the Group we were delighted to receive an award (see main page) at the world famous “War and Peace” show at Beltring.  As those who have attended the show can vouch, the weather can be interesting.  During our attendance at the show, it had always been ridiculously hot – leading us to represent another campaign in British Airborne history – the North African and then on Sicily/Italy.  Elements of 89FSS had taken part in both, and several excellent photographs (see 89FSS History) exist of the unit in North Africa and Italy.   Khaki Drill and Serge was a better mix for the heat of Beltring.  As I have said we were delighted to win the award – runner up! But, we were even more delighted when we found that the judge had been none other than the internationally reputed author – Martin Windrow – quoted elsewhere on the site – Please find below a (limited) bibliography.  Many thanks to Martin - for recognising the group’s effort to effectively represent the uniforms and equipment of the British Airborne’s early campaigns.
